A Better Dental Experience

Our services are tailored to each individual’s needs. Your dental care will be preformed in a relaxing, stress-free environment.

Our Services Include

  • Fillings

When there is a cavity, the decay is removed, and the newly removed portion is replaced with a resin, tooth colored filling.

  • Extraction

Removing an entire tooth that is broken down beyond repair

  • Root Canal

When the pulp of the tooth becomes inflamed or infected beyond what the body can reverse, it needs to be removed. The hollow canals in the teeth house the pulp. Following removal, this space is cleaned and sterilized and then filled with a rubber-like material and a filler paste that seals the tooth from further bacterial infection.

  • Crowns

A restoration that covers the entire tooth. This is needed if the tooth breaks, if there is a large existing filling that is failing, or if the tooth has had a root canal.

  • Bridge

This is used to replace a missing tooth. One or two teeth on each side of the space are used to hold this restoration in place. This is NOT removable.

  • Implants

If a tooth needs to be replaced, a titanium post is placed into the bone. A crown can be placed on top of this post to replace one tooth, or a bridge can be placed on top of multiple implants. These can also serve to anchor a denture for retention and stability.

  • Veneers

This is typically a thin restoration placed on the front of a tooth for a better cosmetic look. It can be made of porcelain or resin material.

  • Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment can improve the appearance, health and function of the teeth and jaws. Orthodontics is a dental specialty focused on aligning your bite and straightening your teeth. You might be interested in orthodontics if you have crooked, overlapped, twisted or gapped teeth. Common orthodontic treatments include traditional braces, clear aligners and removable retainers.

Implants

For those patients who need tooth replacement, a great option are implants. They provide the best long-term option for either replacing a single tooth, multiple teeth or retaining a denture.

One of the nice features of an implant is that no matter what happens in the future, the implant will always be useful for treatment. We get a lot of “what if” questions from patients who have years of failed dental work and are hesitant to spend a lot of money restoring their mouth. These are valid questions and always something we keep in mind but the implant will always serve them well in whatever situations arise in the future.

In most situations, we place our own implants in-office. With our 3D imaging software and 3D printing capability we do all of our surgical implant placements using a guide. Guided surgery means more precise placement of the implant which leads to more predictable final restorations on top of the implant.

We also use Straumann Implants exclusively. Straumann is a world leader in implantology and provides clinicians and patients with piece of mind for predictability and success.

Gum Disease

This is an infection of the gums. Plaque is made up of different types of bacteria, and when this sits on the gums next to the teeth, and is not removed well with brushing and flossing, an infection process begins. These bacteria find their way into the small pocket between the tooth and gum. Untreated, the gums begin to recede and along with it, the bone. If this is not treated, it will continue until the bone around the tooth recedes and the tooth becomes loose and ultimately falls out. Bleeding gums, red and “puffy” gums, bad breath and receding gums are typical signs that your gums might be progressing to this. Treatment for Gum Disease is a full team approach. The dental hygienist measures these pockets between your teeth and determines where the gum disease is located and then decides how extensive it is. The hygienist will then cleanse these pockets and remove the bacteria, or infection, from the pockets. The team approach happens when this treatment is finished, which is typically done in 1 or 2 appointments. The patient is given very thorough instructions on how to brush and floss and take care of the teeth and gums. The patient is then expected to work on this diligently at home. Maintaining this newly created “healthy” environment around the gums takes a focused approach by the patient, and the hygienist will monitor the situation every 3 or 4 months until it is decided if the situation has recovered and the disease is stable enough to place the patient back on 6 month intervals, or if the status of the disease is uncertain enough that closer monitoring and cleaning will be required.

Temporomandibular Disorder

TMJ & Facial Pain

If you suffer from chronic headaches, pain on opening and closing, restricted opening or your teeth do not fit together, you may have an issue with one or both of your TMJ’s. The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is one of the major joints of the body. It is where the lower jaw articulates with the skull, and when this joint is affected, it affects the way the teeth fit together.

Most dental professionals know a lot about the “tooth” part of the system, but understanding the ramifications of what a bad TMJ does to the teeth, the muscles and the surrounding systems, can be complex. As a legacy member of the Piper/McKee TMJ Study Club, long-time member of the American Equilibration Society and now a member of the exclusive Chicago Study Club, Dr. Brown has a vast understanding of the role the TMJ’s play in the function of teeth, as well as the negative effects a bad TMJ plays on a patient’s health.

We pride ourselves on being empathetic to patients who suffer from TMJ problems. The first step in finding a solution is establishing a diagnosis. After a thorough history of the patient’s dental and medical situation, we use MRI’s and 3D CT imagines to see the joints and explain to the patient where they are at, then begin to map out the journey to where they may find help and solutions to their problems. TMJ problems are often complex and require a deep understanding of all the affected systems. Establishing a diagnosis is the most important step.

Special Services

Our office is unique in that we look at the entire system, not just the teeth. The occlusion (bite) and the TMJ are major parts of the system that are commonly ignored but are absolutely critical to the health & function of the teeth and supporting structures.
